Selçuk Aydın

Selçuk Aydın ( born September 4, 1983 in Trabzon ) is a Turkish boxer.

Amateur career

Selçuk Aydın is 15 times Turkish champions and won 360 of 380 amateur fights. It was founded in 1999 Cadet European Champion bantamweight, 2001 Junior European champion at lightweight, 2003 EU - Master in light weight, and in 2004 vice - European champion at lightweight. He also won bronze medals at the Junior World Championships in 2000 and the European Championships in 2002.

In August 2004, he took part in the Summer Olympic Games in Athens, where he, however, already in the first round fight two times European Champion and Vice World Champion Dimitar Schtilianow from Bulgaria 11:20 defeated on points.

At the European Championships in Bulgaria in 2006, he met in his second fight on Frankie Gavin, whom he had five months earlier inferior even at an international tournament. He was disqualified for an altercation with the referee and then locked for five years from amateur boxing federation AIBA.

Professional

Aydın was still in November 2006 and is professional at Arena Box-Promotion in Hamburg under contract. His first professional fight, he won on 10 November 2006 by Ko in the first round against the Slovaks Marian Gabris. In December he won by whacked in the first round against the Romanians Marius Bughiata and Co in the second round against the previously undefeated Uzbek Jonny Ibramov (4-0 ).

After eleven other victories, including against Vitali Martynau ( 11-5 ) and Farhad Bakirov ( 24-2 ), he pushed on April 26, 2008, at the International Master title by the WBC welterweight. He defeated while the South Africans Lucky Lewele ( 25-4 ) by unanimous decision. His first defense of the title he won in September of the same year in Cuxhaven by Ko in the second round against Russian Marat Khuzeev ( 17-3 ).

On 6 March 2009 he succeeded another knockout win in the first round against Luis Hernández Chalá ( 22-3 ) from the United States. In April 2009, he narrowly won on points against the first enemy of the extended world-class, living in the U.S. Belgians Said Ouali ( 25-2, southpaw ) and was awarded a shot at the vacant European title of the EBU welterweight. He defeated in Istanbul Jackson Osei Bonsu the Belgians ( 30-2 ) by KO in the ninth round, he never defended that title though.

On 5 June 2010 he defeated in the battle for the silver world title the WBC welterweight champion, the undefeated southpaw Romanian Ionut Dan Ion ( 26-0 ) just on points. The also undefeated Belarusians Dzmitry Lubachkin ( 18-0 ), he defeated in April 2011 by co in the first round. Almost three months later he succeeded another knockout win against Raman Dzekhkanau (10-2). On November 26, 2011, there arrived in Trabzon for rematch with Ionut Dan Ion ( 29-1 ), the Aydın won on points just for themselves again.

On 28 July 2012, he boxed in San Jose, California against the U.S. southpaw Robert Guerrero ( 29-1 ), the end of 2012 # 10 pound for pound in the Ring Magazine, the interime World Championship WBC welterweight. In a tough fight but Aydın succumbed to the Americans on points and so had his first loss as a professional to accept. On January 26, 2013 in Las Vegas, he lost by a majority decision against Mexican Jesus Soto Karass ( 26-8 ).

On March 22, 2013, won by unanimous decision against the Italian Giuseppe Lauri ( 53-11 ). In July 2013 was followed by a knockout win against the Mexicans Aaron Herrera ( 25-2 ).
