Selmer Jackson

Adolph Selmer Jackson ( born May 7, 1888 in Lake Mills, Iowa; † 30 March 1971 in Burbank, Los Angeles County, California ) was an American actor, who has worked in nearly 400 feature films 1921-1963.

Life

Jackson began his film career in 1921 in The Supreme Passion. From 1929 he played every year in several films, including 1931 in Frank Capra's The airship, Michael Curtiz ' The mysterious Dr. X and the Marx Brothers comedy scandal at the opera. He stepped in several films from the Charlie Chan series and played in the 1944 Laurel and Hardy comedy The Big Bang. In the 1950s, he starred in the epic film The Gladiators among others. In addition, he now also appeared in television series, including he had the recurring guest role of the Mayor Hoover in the Western series Wyatt Earp intervenes. He had a major supporting role in the 1959 sci-fi B- Movie In U -17 the hell is going on. Between 1956 and 1960 he played the role of Chester W. Nimitz in two feature films and the television series Navy Log. In 1963 he retired from show business.

Jackson died in 1971 of a heart attack.
