Seppo Honkapohja

Seppo Honkapohja ( born March 7, 1951 in Helsinki) is a Finnish economist and board member of the Bank of Finland Suomen Pankki and former Professor of International Macroeconomics at the University of Cambridge.

Life

After visiting the United World College of the Atlantic in Wales Seppo Honkapohja attended the University of Helsinki and graduated with a M.Soc.Sc., the Licentiate of Soc.Sc. and a D.Soc.Sc. from.

From 1975 to 1987, Dr Honkapohja was Scientific Director of the Yrjö Jahnsson Foundation. Until 1991 he was a professor of economics at the Turku School of Economics and Business Administration. He moved in 1992 to the University of Helsinki, where he worked as Professor of Economics. In addition, he was from 2000 to 2004 Academy Professor of the Academy of Finland. In 2004 he was appointed professor at the University of Cambridge as Professor of International Macroeconomics.

Since 1 January 2008, Seppo Honkapohja, D.Soc.Sc., Board Member of the Finnish central bank. He is responsible for research and information technologies and proprietary trading Bank of Finland.

He was from 2001 until his appointment as Central Bank Executive Board member of the European Economic Advisory Group. From 2004 to 2006 he was its chairman.
