Sercial

You probably originates from Portugal and for a long time Rieslingklon was held, but this has been proven wrong.

Sercial characterized by very late bud break and ripening at medium height. Accordingly, it is frost sensitive. The demands on soil and location are high.

The grapes are small, compact and often shouldered several times. The berries are very small, oval in shape and have a thick skin. Their color is yellow white.

The white wines are pale yellow, dry and have a distinctive acidity. Young wines are often fragrant and strict. Due to the positioning they get a fruity bouquet. The acid is retained. The best known is certainly the aperitif wine Sercial from the Portuguese Madeira DOC, for which she was eponymous. This grape produces the driest wines of Madeira.
