Åžeref Has

Has Şeref ( born September 27, 1936 in Yeniköy, Istanbul) is a former Turkish football player and functionary. It was the summer of 1992 until the summer of 2004 throughout a board member of the Turkish Football Federation.

Playing career

Association

Şeref Has started his club football career at Beylerbeyi SK. He then moved to Beyoğluspor.

In the summer of 1955, he moved to Fenerbahçe Istanbul and played 15 seasons long for this club.

Through his many years of service at Fenerbahce he is strongly associated with this club. He is considered by both the fans as well as by the association as one of the greatest players in the club's history. With Fenerbahçe he won five times the Turkish Cup once and the Turkish Football Cup. He counted long time behind the Fenerbahçe legend Lefter Küçükandonyadis than the player with the second most appearances for that club until both were overhauled in this section in the 90s of Müjdat Yetkiner.

For the 1968/69 season to Fenerbahçe decided to make a radical break with the team and to form a new team with young players. As a result of these measures, they parted by many seasoned players, including Has. Then explained Has to want to first finish the season end his career. To this end, a farewell match was organized on 21 June 1969 in the Fenerbahçe ran against a selection of stars. At this farewell match took Özcan Arkoç and Uwe Seeler also two known quantities of the German football part.

Has played later in the period 1973 to 1976 for Mersin İdman Yurdu, where he held also the post of assistant coach. Following this time he ended his playing career.

National

Şeref Has twice played for the Turkish U-18 national team and 39 times for the Turkish national team. He ran in ten matches as captain for the latter.

In 1954 he took part with the Turkish U-18 national team in the UEFA youth tournament and reached here behind the Argentine U-18 the 4th Place. Has came during the tournament to two stakes.

With the Turkish selection in 1967 he took part in the ECO Cup and won with his team the trophy.

Trivia

  • Has Şeref is the younger brother of the well known as Tarzan Mehmet Ali Fenerbahçe legend Mehmet Ali Has.
  • He is a graduate of the prestigious Istanbul High School Kabataş Erkek Lisesi.
  • Has been married to the daughter of Ibrahim Tusder since the early 1960s, a former Galatasaray player. This was the head coach of Şerefs older brother Mehmet Ali Has during his time at Beykozspor.
