Sergeant Major of the Army
Sergeant Major of the Army (SMA ) is the highest NCO rank in the U.S. Army. There is only one NCO (Non Commissioned Officer ) who holds this rank while this service position. He is the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chief of Staff of the Army.
Tasks
The SMA serves as manager of the NCO corps of the U.S. Army and assigned to the staff of the Chief of Staff of the Army to. He is a consultant in all service matters concerning the commissioned officers of the Army, particularly in the areas of soldier training and quality of life.
For much of his time, he is all over the U.S. Army on the road, oversees the training and talking to soldiers and their families.
