Sergio Citti

Sergio Citti (* May 30, 1933 in Rome, † 11 October, 2005 Ostia ) was an Italian screenwriter and film director.

Life

Citti was since the early fifties, a close friend of Pier Paolo Pasolini and discussed this first with his novels Ragazzi di vita and Vita violenta. Both novels were not only playing in the Roman suburbs, but took in a radical way, the slang and dialects of the people living there. Citti, who himself came from this milieu, was to " Pasolini's Roman dictionary. " From this beginning a long association, Citti, Pasolini developed supported at work on the scripts, which at that time wrote this more for other directors. In Pasolini's first own films Accattone ( in which he played a small role as an actor ) and Mamma Roma Citti cared again to the dialogue, it was then to assistant director in the majority of the films of Pasolini.

1970 Citti staged his first film Ostia. Among his most famous works include beach whispering ( Casotto, 1977) with Jodie Foster and Ugo Tognazzi and two fathers, a child and the beautiful Lucia (due pezzis di pane, 1979) with Vittorio Gassman and Philippe Noiret. With Il minestrone, he was invited in 1981 in competition at the Berlinale. For the homeless Three Kings ( Magi I Randagi, 1996), he got in 1997, the Nastro d' Argento for Best Story ( Miglior soggetto ).

Sergio Citti was the brother of the actor Franco Citti.
