Ugo Tognazzi

Ugo Tognazzi ( born March 23, 1922 in Cremona, Lombardy, † October 27, 1990 in Rome ) was an Italian actor, director, writer and comedian.

Life

Spent his youth Ugo Tognazzi in various places in Italy, since his father was a representative for an insurance company and thus traveled a lot around the country. After 1936 he was returned to his hometown of Cremona, he worked in a salami factory. During World War II he was drafted and returned in September 1943 after the armistice of Cassibile in his homeland. He had from his youth a taste for stage events, and even during the war years he led plays for the soldiers in his unit. In 1945 he moved to Milan, where he was employed by the theater company of Wanda Osiris. A few years later, he founded his own company, the aufführte musicals and Revueen.

Tognazzi became known in Germany especially for his roles in The great feast and La Cage Aux Folles. In addition to his acting - he won the 1981 Best Actor Award at the film festival in Cannes, he received three times the David di Donatello and Nastro d' Argento to four times - he enjoyed a high reputation in Italy as a gourmet and cooking.

Tognazzi was married to Franca Bettoja; his sons Ricky ( b. 1955 ) and Gianmarco (1967 ) are also a film actor, with the former also acts as a director. He is also the father of Norwegian film director and film producer Thomas Robsahm (* 1964). His daughter Maria Sole Tognazzi (born 1971 ) is, like Ricky, also a film director.

He died at the age of 68 of a cerebral hemorrhage.
