Sergio Guerri

Cardinal Sergio Guerri ( born December 25, 1905 in Tarquinia, Viterbo, Italy, † March 15, 1992 in Vatican City State ) was a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Sergio Guerri studied the subjects of philosophy and Catholic theology in Montefiascone and Rome. He received on 30 March 1929, the sacrament of Holy Orders and entered upon completion of advanced studies in the services of the Pontifical Athenaeum " De Propaganda Fide ". In 1940 he received the honorary title of Pontifical secret chamberlain, from 1941 to 1946 he worked as an ex officio proceedings of the Institute for Religious Works. 1948 Pope Pius XII appointed him. for Pro- Secretary, 1952 to Secretary for managing the assets of the Holy See.

1960 that Pope John XXIII. Sergio Guerri Secretary of the Secretariat for the preparation of the Second Vatican Council, 1961, he appointed him as the Commissioner for Special Administrative Affairs of the Holy See. From 1960 to 1965 Sergio Guerri acted as an action authorized Secretary of the Second Vatican Council.

In April 1969, he was named by Pope Paul VI. Titular Archbishop of Trebia. The bishop ordained Sergio Guerri by Cardinal Secretary of State Amleto Giovanni Cicognani.

On April 28, 1969 Sergio Guerri was taken as a cardinal deacon with the title Diakonia Santissimo Nome di Maria al Foro Traiano in the College of Cardinals. In 1979 he opted while retaining its title diakonia, which was levied per hac vice to title church, in the class of Cardinal cardinal priest.

He ran until 1981 as per the President Pontifical Commission for the State of Vatican City. On March 15, 1992, he died in the Vatican and was buried in the chapel of his family in the cemetery at Tarquinia.
