Setcases

Setcases ( ˌ sɛtkazəs ) ( Catalan for ' Seven Houses' ) is a Spanish municipality in the comarca of Ripollès the province of Girona. It lies near the source of the River Ter in the Pyrenees.

Setcases is first mentioned in 965 in a donation of Sunifred II, Count of Cerdanya, in the monastery of Sant Pere de Camprodon.

Dating back to the 17th century church of Sant Miquel de Setcases houses a Baroque altarpiece, which is dedicated to the Archangel Michael. It is the only one of this kind in the valley of Camprodon, which survived during the Spanish Civil War, the church destructions.

Setcases is a popular tourist destination in the region of Ripollès, both for hiking in the area Ulldeter, as well as for winter sports with the ski Vallter.
