Seth Wakeman

Seth Wakeman ( born January 15, 1811 in Franklin, Vermont, † January 4, 1880 in Batavia, New York) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1871 and 1873 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Seth Wakeman was born about one and a half years before the outbreak of the British - American War in Franklin and wuch on there. During this time he attended community schools. Then he moved to Batavia, where he studied law. After receiving his license to practice law, he began to practice. Between 1850 and 1856 he was district attorney ( district attorney ) in Genesee County. He sat in the years 1856 and 1857 in the New York State Assembly. During 1867 and 1868 he took part in the Constituent Assemblies of New York. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party.

In the congressional elections of 1870 for the 47th Congress Wakeman was the 29th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of John Fisher on March 4, 1871. Since he gave up for reelection in 1872, he retired after the March 3, 1873 out of the Congress.

After his time Congress he resumed his activities as a lawyer. He died on 4 January 1880 in Batavia and was then buried in the Elmwood Cemetery.
