Seyi Olofinjana

Oluwasey George " Seyi " Olofinjana (* June 30, 1980 in Lagos ) is a Nigerian football player. The midfielder was recently at Hull City under contract.

Club career

Olofinjana played until 2002 in his home at Kwara United in the Nigerian Premier League. In early 2003 he moved to Norwegian club Brann Bergen, where in his first season he missed only one game and scored nine goals this season. After another nine starts at the beginning of the 2004 season was his change before the French club AS Monaco. However, he fell while medical check because of an abnormality in his heart through. A short time later he moved for 1.7 million pounds for the English club Wolverhampton Wanderers, who could not notice any problems.

In the second division the next four years he was mostly a fixture in the midfield. After he repeatedly promotion to the Premier League just missed with Wolverhampton, he moved in 2008 after 135 league appearances ( 16 goals ) for 3 million pounds to Stoke City. Although Olofinjana was there to celebrate with his goal in a 2-1 home win against Arsenal early a moderate success, he could in the middle of the " Potter " win now on a regular place and had a majority on the substitutes ' bench. So the club after almost a year already took a 2.5 - million -pound offer of AS Monaco. However, the trade fell through in August 2009 and so Olofinjana moved instead for three million pounds for Erstligakonkurrenten Hull City. In August 2010, the midfielder signed for the 2010/11 season on loan at Cardiff City.

National

Olofinjana was first used in June 2000 in a friendly match against Malawi in the national team of Nigeria used. 2004 and 2008 he was in the squad of the Super Eagles at the Africa Cup of Nations. In 2004, he stood in five games in the starting lineup and reached the 3rd place team, four years later they had already failed in the quarterfinals. In 2006, he missed the participation due to persistent back problems, through which he had to sit most of the 2005/06 season.
