Shahin Imranov

Şahin İmranov ( ʃɑhɪn ɪmrɑnɔv; born September 23, 1980 in Sumgait, Soviet Union) is an Azerbaijani boxer, two-time Vice - European Champion and winner of a bronze medal at the 2008 Olympic Games respectively featherweight.

Career

Şahin İmranov began as a teenager with the boxes. To be able to practice this sport fully, he joined the Azerbaijani army and was stationed in Baku. Due to his success and his personality, he was soon appointed captain of the Azerbaijani boxing team. The 1.70 meter tall and about 60 kg athlete was very susceptible to injury, so that he missed because of even greater success, than he scored.

In the international Boxgeschehen he grabbed first time in 2002. After victories in Boxturnieren in Makhachkala and Baku, he started at the European Championships this year in Perm. He finished there in spring weight behind the Russian Raimkul Malachbekow equal to an excellent 2nd place. In 2003 he won the third place he reached at the Military World Championships in Catania, another medal. Before him placed there with Domenico Valentino from Italy and Alexey Tishchenko of Russia only two absolute top -rounder.

In 2004, Şahin İmranov qualified by a second place in the " Feliks strain " tournament in Warsaw for participation in the Olympic Games in Athens. There he met at featherweight after a victory over Ludorno Galada from South Africa in the second round on Alexei Tishchenko, against whom he had to be taken in the 3rd round due to an injury out of the ring. He finished in the final statement of the 9th Place.

At the 2005 World Championships in Mianyang / China Şahin İmranov disappointed, because he lost his battle there in the Round of " 32 " against Andrew Propp from Germany by points ( 10:15), left and came on along with all the losers this round the 17th Place.

In the 2006 European Championship in Plovdiv but he was again successful. He won there over Khedafi Djelkhir from France, Dimitri Bulenkow from Ukraine and Alexei Schaidulin from Bulgaria, all boxers of European class and only lost in the final against Albert Selimow from Russia, with which he was Vice-European Champion for the second time.

This high was followed at the 2007 World Championships in Chicago again a little low. Şahin İmranov won there first about Samir Issa from Ghana and Valentine Mozorows from Latvia, but lost in the second round as a complete surprise to Antresh Lalit Lakra from India to points ( 9:15 ), which was only the 9th place for him.

In 2008 he qualified in Pescara with wins over Janos Mihaly of Hungary, Michal Bernadski from Belarus and Wilhelm Grachev from Germany and one defeat against Khedafi Djelkhir, but played no part in the Olympic Qualification for participating in the Olympic Games in Beijing. In Beijing, he won over Galib Jafarow from Kazakhstan, Nikoloz Isorija from Georgia and Idel Torriente from Cuba ( 16:14) and was thus in the semifinals again Khedafi Djelkhir opposite. He had to give up against this after the first round due to an injury, but nevertheless won an Olympic bronze medal.
