Shantel
Stefan dumbbell ( born March 2, 1968 in Mannheim ) is a German musician, music producer and DJ who is known by the stage name Shantel. With the 2003 and 2005 released on his label Essay Recordings " Bucovina Club" compilations that contain a selection of modern interpretation of Eastern European dance music, he ranks among the world 's most popular representatives of the Balkan pop.
Life and work
Stefan barbell grandparents ( mother's side) came from the old Austrian Bukovina, they lived in Czernowitz. Shantel publications include the record label STUD! O K7. In 1991 he temporarily lived in Paris, where he studied graphic design, but was also active as a DJ. After his return to Germany, he opened a club in Frankfurt. In 1994 he founded together with Daniel Haaksman the label Essay Recordings, which they set dormant for several years after Haaksmans move to Berlin in 1998. In 2001, he co-produced with MC Mike Romeo the song "Inside", which was mainly known through numerous publications on various compilations and use in commercial Aktion Mensch.
2001 undertook a journey dumbbell in the hometown of his grandparents, Chernivtsi. He became interested in Eastern European cultures and music and let it increasingly also in his musical work as a DJ and producer act. In 2002 he reactivated with Haaksman the music label and released the compilation " Bucovina Club ", whose title he collected and some remixed.
