Shibar-Pass

K

The Shibar pass reaches an altitude of 3000 m and is the main road link to the province of Bamiyan in central Afghanistan from the capital Kabul.

The distance from Kabul to Bamiyan over the Shibar Pass is 237 km. Another way to Bamiyan via the Unai Pass, which reaches a peak height of 3700 m. The route across the Shibar Pass is traveled frequently because of the Unai Pass is higher and longer in winter can not be crossed because of the snow. Furthermore, the route is easier to navigate through the Shibar Pass. Completely harmless is not this pass, because in the spring of 2007, an Afghan journalist was killed on the pass.
