Shire of Bulloo

Geography

The Shire is located in the southwest of the state on the border with South Australia and New South Wales about 900 km west of the capital, Brisbane, and about 910 km north-east of Adelaide.

Administrative headquarters of the LGA is Thargomindah with about 200 inhabitants. Other towns are Hungerford and Noccundra.

History

In the 60s of the 19th century, the cattle began in the region and from the first settlements in 1874 the village Thargomindah. In 1880 the County Bulloo, named after the River Bulloo, furnished.

Management

The Bulloo Shire Council has five members. The Mayor ( mayor) and four other Councillor shall be elected by all residents of the Shire. The LGA is not divided into electoral districts.
