Shire of Murweh

- 26.4146.23333333333Koordinaten: 26 ° 24 ' S, 146 ° 14' O The Shire of Murweh is a Local Government Area ( LGA) in the Australian state of Queensland. The area is 40,697 km ² and has about 4600 inhabitants.

Geography

The Shire is located in the southern half of the state about 680 km west of the capital Brisbane.

The largest town and administrative headquarters of the LGA is Charleville with about 3300 inhabitants. Other towns are Augathella, Bakers Bend, Boatman, Caroline Crossing, Clara Creek, Cooladdi, Gowrie Station, Langlo, Morven, Murweh, Nive, Redford, Riversleigh, Sommariva, Upper Warrego and Ward.

History

As of 1863, the region was settled in 1879 and a local administration was established. 1894 Charleville was not until 1961, in a village with its own administration, reunion.

Management

The Murweh Shire Council has five members. The Mayor ( mayor) and four other Councillor shall be elected by all residents of the Shire. The LGA is not divided into electoral districts.
