Shirley Fry Irvin

Shirley Fry Irvin - (* June 30, 1927 in Akron ) is a former American tennis player.

She won in her career 17 Grand Slam titles, 4 singles titles. Your 11 wins in double they reached together with Doris Hart, also a successful player in the fifties. In 1956, she was the No. 1 WTA rankings. As one of the fastest players in her time she was an opponent of the unforgotten Maureen Connolly and her friend Doris Hart. In 1957, she finished her career as a tennis player. In 1970, she was inducted into the Hall of Fame of tennis.

In badminton, she won the 1952 Mexico International in women's doubles with Peggy Vilbig.
