SIAI-Marchetti S.211

The S.211 is a beginner trainer aircraft with turbofan engine of the Italian aircraft manufacturer SIAI - Marchetti. In 1997 the company was acquired by Aermacchi and Alenia latter 2006, and was subsequently referred to as the Alenia Aermacchi M -211. In 2012, the coach was renamed to M -345.

History

This project was a private initiative launched in 1976 the company SIAI - Marchetti. Orders of the Italian Air Force were not to be expected since this their Aermacchi MB -326 was replaced by the revised MB -339. The low-cost and low -maintenance S -211 was intended for export. The prototype of the S -211 was launched on 10 April 1981 from Malpensa airport to make its maiden flight. Deliveries began in November 1984 and lasted until July 1985 total of nearly 60 aircraft were ordered. Singapore received 30 machines, 24 of which were mounted locally, the Philippines acquired 19 aircraft, 15 of which a local company zusammenbaute. Haiti could not pay his four aircraft ordered. They went along with some other private operators.

The machine is the improved version of M- 311 continue to be offered by Aermacchi, which is something located below the Aermacchi MB -339 and the successor model Aermacchi M -346.
