Sierra National Airlines

Sierra National Airlines was the national airline of Sierra Leone, based in Freetown and Lungi International Airport on the base.

History

To repeat time of the operation of the state airlines of Sierra Leone was set in 1987. The predecessors of the Sierra National Airlines were also as state flag carrier of Sierra Leone Airways (1958-1983) and Sierra Leone Airlines ( 1983-1987 ). On 1 May 1990, the operation and the name of Sierra National Airlines was resumed, adjusted in subsequent years but due to the civil war over and over again. Between 2004 and 2005 flights were conducted to Gatwick Airport in London regularly.

In October 2004, there were discussions between Gold Coast Aviation ( Pty) Ltd of South Africa. The plans to have regular connections to Monrovia, Accra, Abidjan, Conakry, Banjul and Johannesburg as well as to London and Dubai, were not realized.

End of 2005, the active flight has stopped and taken only the ground handling for other airlines.
