Sim Iness

Garland Simeon "Sim" Iness ( born July 9, 1930 in Keota, Oklahoma; † 23 May 1996 Porterville, California ) was an American track and field athlete. At the age of 22, he was 1952 Olympic champion in the discus throw with a jump of 55.03 meters in Helsinki. A year later, he scored despite injuries - before his litters he was hit by a discus in the face! - On June 20 in Lincoln / Nebraska with 57.93 m world record.

At a height of 1.90 m his competition weight was 109 kg.
