Simon Arthur, 4th Baron Glenarthur

Simon Mark Arthur, 4th Baron Glenarthur DL, FCILT, milling ( born October 7, 1944) is a British peer, pilot and businessman. He inherited his father's title in 1976 and is one of 90 Erbpeers, 1999 have a seat in the House of Lords after the House of Lords Act. He sits there for the Conservative Party.

The son of Matthew Arthur 3rd Baron Glenarthur went to the elite boarding school Eton. His military service he completed in 1963 at the 10th Royal Hussars from; Glenarthur was 1964-1965 aide- de-camp of the High Commissioner of Aden. From 1976 to 1980 he was the rank of major in the Royal Hussars and the Territorial and Army Volunteer Reserve and was from 1976 to 1982 captain at British Airways Helicopters.

Glenarthur was under the government of Margaret Thatcher in the House of Lords, 1982, he was Lord -in- Waiting ( government whip ) and 1983 Parliamentary Under- Secretary, Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (Department of Health and Social Security ( DHSS ) ). He joined the Ministry of the Interior (Home Office ) and became in 1986 Minister of State for Scotland. From 1987 to 1989 he was Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs ). His responsibilities included Hong Kong and Britain's relationship with China.

From 1977 to 1982, Glenarthur director of Aberdeen and Texas Corporate Finance Ltd. and from 1979 to 1982 the Abtex Computer Systems Ltd.. He was Managing Director of Hanson plc Executive Vice Hanson Pacific Ltd. and Director of Whirly Bird Services Ltd.. In addition, he was a consultant for British Aerospace and president of the National Council for Civil Protection. For the British Helicopter Advisory Board, he was Chairman and later President. He was also director of the Lewis Group Consultants of Chevron UK Ltd and Director of Millennium Chemicals. He also worked for Hanson plc and Imperial Tobacco Group plc. He was on the board of the European Helicopter Association and the International Federation of Helicopter Associations. He was consultant for Audax Trading Ltd.. He was Commissioner of the Royal Hospital Chelsea and director of the Medical Defence Union and andax Global.

He sat on the Board of The Air League and was a member of the National Employers Liaison Committee of Her Majesty 's Reserve Forces. He was also Chairman of the National Employer Advisory Board for Britain 's Reserve Forces. He is a Lieutenant of the Royal Company of Archers, and Ehrencolonel of 306 Field Hospital and Honorary Air Commodore of 612 (County of Aberdeen) Squadron, Royal Auxiliary Air Force. 1992 Glenarthur Freeman of the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators and he was Liveryman 1996. He was already Seiz 1978 Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and a Fellow in 1999. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and since 1996 Freeman of the City of London.

Glenarthur is married to Susan Barry, a granddaughter of the Earl of Dunmore; they have a son and a daughter.
