Simon Goulart

Simon Goulart Elder. (* October 20, 1543 in Senlis, France, † February 3, 1628 in Geneva, Switzerland ) was a French humanist, translator and author, as well as Reformed theologian. Life

Goulart first studied law, but was then supported the Reformation theologian. In 1566 he came to Geneva, was in the same year pastor in Chancy and five years later (1571 ) in Geneva. With the permission of the Geneva government, he provided his church service temporarily in several French towns, namely in 1576 in the province of Forez, 1582 in Champagne and 1600 in Grenoble.

After the death of Théodore de Bèzes he led at the request of the Council seven years chaired the " Vénérable Compagnie des Pasteur ." Goulart was a writer, collected shorter writings and documents in the file of the French Wars of Religion and was editor of Jean Crespin (1520-1572) began suffering history of the Huguenots. His son was the same theologian and writer Simon Goulart ( 1575-1628 ).
