Simon Grundel-Helmfelt

Simon goby Helmfelt ( born September 25, 1617 in Stockholm, † July 14, 1676 in Landskrona ) was a Swedish Field Marshal and Imperial Council.

Life

Simon goby Helmfelt fought in the Thirty Years' War on the side of the Swedish army: he took in 1642 at the Battle of Breitenfeld and was appointed five years later for his military merits knighted. In 1646 he was wounded at the Battle of Rain am Lech on his arm. Three years later he was promoted to colonel of artillery, and in 1655 to major general of infantry.

In 1656, the Swedish king goby Helmfelt appointed governor of Riga. In the same year he defended the city against the Russian army led by Alexei I. Two years later he became lieutenant general in 1959 Governor-General of Ingria and 1673 member of the Imperial Council. 1676 he returned to Stockholm and was commander of the Swedish army during the Great Northern War. In the same year he died at the Battle of Landskrona.
