Simon van Velthooven

Simon van Velthooven ( born December 8, 1988 in Palmerston North ) is a New Zealand racing cyclist.

2005 Simon van Velthooven finished in the team sprint Junior together with Edward Dawkins and Elijah May won first place at the Oceania Championships in Wanganui. The following year, he was New Zealand junior champion in sprint, time trial, he came in second and third place in the scratch.

2010 Velthooven won the bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in the Keirin. In the spring before he had taken part in the Keirin competitions in Japan. In 2011 he won at the Oceania Championships three gold medals in the team sprint, with Sam Webster and Ethan Mitchell, Keirin and in the 1000 -meter time trial. At the 2012 Olympic Games in London Velthooven took third place in the Keirin, which he shared with Dutchman Teun Mulder.

2013 van Velthoven was vice-champion in the 1000 -meter time trial in Minsk.
