Simona La Mantia

Simona La Mantia ( born April 14, 1983 in Palermo) is an Italian triple jumper. She was European Champion 2011 Hall.

In the U23 European Championships in 2003 in Bydgoszcz, she was with 14,31 m and six centimeters behind the Russian Viktoriya Gurowa second. Shortly after, she retired at the World Athletics Championships 2003 in Paris / Saint- Denis in the qualifier. At the World Indoor Championships in Budapest in 2004, she jumped in the qualifying their personal Hallenbestleistung of 14.45 meters and finished third in the preliminaries to eleventh place. At the Olympic Games in Athens, she retired again in qualifying.

In 2005, she was eighth at the Indoor Athletics Championships in Madrid and won at the European U23 Championships in Erfurt with 14.43 meters before the starting time for Russia Svetlana Bolshakova.

It was followed by several years, which were intended for La Mantia of injury. In 2010 she jumped first time since 2006 on 14 meters. At the European Athletics Championships in Barcelona she jumped 14.56 meters and thus won the silver medal behind Ukrainian Olha Saladucha, was third -starting now for Belgium Bolshakova.

In the Indoor Athletics Championships 2011 in Paris, she celebrated her first international title with a personal best jump of 14.60 m. In 2012 she was fourth at the European Championships at the Olympic Games in London but do not make it past the qualification. In March 2013, it won the bronze medal with a width of 14.26 m at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Until now, it was five times national champion outdoors (2004-2006, 2010, 2011 ) and three times in the Hall ( 2004, 2006, 2011).

Simona La Mantia is 1,76 m tall and weighs 64 kg. She began her career at Palermo CUS, but now starts for the club Fiamme Gialle.
