Sion Airport is a regional airport in Sion ( Switzerland ). The main airline at the airport is the Swiss Air Glaciers. She is also responsible for the air rescue in the canton of Valais in addition to Air Zermatt. In addition, the Alpine tours offers tourist alpine scenic flights. However, a majority of flights are not of a commercial nature, such as flight schools. At the airport max. a Boeing 737 or an Airbus A320 land.

Currently only a few destinations are served from Sion.

Sion airport in figures

2004 was one of the Sion airport 32'836 48'118 passengers and aircraft movements. For arrivals and departures is in Sion a fired concrete runway of 2000 m length and a grass runway of 660 m length. The airport can handle up to 2600 passengers per day.

Between 1996 and 2005, there were also regular services in Sion.

Military use

The Swiss Air Force Sion uses as one of its four Jetflugplätze next Payerne, Meiringen, Emmen. It involves the airfield command 14 Sion. In addition to propeller aircraft Pilatus PC -6, Pilatus PC -7 Pilatus PC -9 Pilatus PC -21 and helicopters it is widely used by fighter jets F/A-18 and F- 5 Tiger. It is the home base of the militia pilot seasons Season 19 Swans with F- 5E and Dragons Season 16 with F- 5F.
