Sirenia (band)

Sirenia is a metal band from Norway.

History

As a songwriter Morten Veland at Tristania got out, because his ideas are no longer met with approval, he founded in 2001 Sirenia.

On 5 November 2007, the band announced that Monika Pedersen will no longer be a singer there. As a substitute, the Spanish singer Ailyn was presented on April 9, 2008. The guitarist Bjørnar Landa was replaced on 20 May 2008 by Michael S. Krumins.

2010 Morten Veland released an album with his solo project Mortemia, in which he plays all the instruments and sings.

Style

Their music is a combination of gothic metal and symphonic metal, with elements of classical music and death metal. It is noteworthy that band founder Veland played almost all the instruments himself, and the texts himself wrote.

Striking is the melancholic atmosphere, marked by deep growls in combination with atmospheric female vocals. The texts deal with suffering, death and human abysses.

While the first two albums are stylistically veil with this expansive choral passages and over again leading violin melody in the tradition of Tristanias Beyond the, the album Nine Destinies And A Downfall is very different from the two predecessors. Now the female vocals is clearly in the foreground and only in a few songs come before long Growlpassagen. The songs are all very catchy and clearly structured according to verse-chorus - schemes, the metal elements have been scaled back significantly in favor of very catchy riffs.
