SIS Swiss International School

SIS Swiss International School is a group of 14 private day schools in Switzerland, Germany and Brazil, which offers a continuous education from nursery to university-entrance. 2013 were enrolled in SIS schools 1,760 students.

The SIS operates since 1999 in Switzerland private schools since 2008 in Germany and since 2011 in Brazil. It is a joint venture of Kalaidos Education Group ( Switzerland ) and the Klett Group ( Germany ).

Education concept

The program of the SIS is intended to meet the educational aspirations of both local and internationally mobile families. It is based on the bilingualism of both the education and social life ( in the local language and English). The SIS offers its students the opportunity to gain both national and international qualifications for university entrance. The schools in Switzerland and Germany are EFQM certified.

The slogan of the SIS is " International Education - Local Insight " and expresses their goal to mold their students to "global citizens". The educational concept is based on the following pillars:

  • Core Values ​​: The SIS is politically, ideologically and religiously independent. It's called "honesty, respect, personal responsibility and liability in doing " as their fundamental values.
  • Bilingual: English and German ( Portuguese in the case of school in Brazil) are equal school languages ​​, both in the classroom and in all aspects of daily life. So the children learn to express themselves naturally and confidently in both languages.
  • Curriculum and Degrees: The curriculum of each SIS school is based on the regulations of the local education authority and is complemented by blocks of international curricula. Students of the SIS have the opportunity to the local state university entrance and / or the International Baccalaureate (IB ) store. Those SIS schools that provide education at secondary school level ( SIS Basel, Zurich SIS ), are recognized IB World Schools. The SIS Stuttgart- Fellbach is an IB Candidate School and plans to implement the IB Diploma Programme in 2014.
  • Continuous education program of kindergarten to higher education: The SIS offers kindergarten, primary school and high school (SIS Basel, SIS, Zurich ), all levels of education under one roof and can thus ensure smooth transitions between the steps and the school sites.

History

Opened in 1999, the Minerva High School in Basel a bilingual school, which was later renamed SIS Swiss International School. The pioneering class of the SIS Basel consisted of four students. Shortly thereafter, the first bilingual schools were founded in Zurich and Winterthur, and 2008, the SIS Stuttgart- Fellbach followed the first school site in Germany. More than 1,760 students (as of 2013) to learn SIS schools in Switzerland and Germany. In addition, the SIS Brazil in 2011 opened its first school in Brasilia, at the present 50 students are enrolled.
