Nangra ichthya

The mountain catfishes ( Sisoridae ), also known as Turkestan catfish, live with 139 species and 20 genera in southern Asia, from Asia Minor and Syria to the south of China and Borneo. Distribution area is the Middle East.

Features

Most species of the family are small, reaching lengths of 4-20 inches and live in fast-flowing mountain streams and rapids. The largest species Bagarius Bagarius and Bagarius yarrelli live in the Ganges, the Mekong River and other streams in Southeast Asia and are 2 meters long. All, except the genus Sisor have four pairs of barbels. Sisor has a Bartel couple on the maxilla and five Bartel couple on the lower jaw. The body of the mountain catfish is usually covered with small tubercles. An adipose fin is present. It is, for some species fused with the caudal fin and consists in Sisor only from a small sting. The base of the dorsal fin is short. It can be with or without preceding spike. Some species have a polymer formed from the mouth and fins Adhäsionorgan.
