Skagen Painters

Skagen called himself a Danish artist group in the fishing village of Skagen, which came to national importance in the 80s and 90s of the 19th century and devoted himself mainly of plein air painting. Here, the painter served after the model of the French Barbizon school of realistic or naturalistic means of expression and also the Impressionism approached partially strongly.

The main representatives of the Association, which made Skagen especially in the summer months, a meeting place for Scandinavian artists, were the poet and marine painter Holger Drachmann, Oscar Björck, PS Krøyer, Marie Krøyer, Christian Krohg, the couple Michael and Anna Ancher, Lauritz Tuxen, Karl Locher Viggo Johansen and Karl Madsen (the latter two were married to the cousins ​​of Anna Ancher ).

1908 founded the artist together with the hotelier and Anna Ancher's brother, Degn Brøndum, and Victor BC Klæbel (Chairman), the meeting place for the community of artists, the hotel of the father of Anna Ancher, the Skagen museum with many works of the artist. 1928 was brought under the collection in a new museum building, in the 1945, the dining room, the artist was moved as a complete environment.
