Slimmy

Slimmy is a Portuguese band project of musician Paulo Fernandes, which created his style from various pop-rock - game species, especially Electro punk and pop music, and live musicians occurs with fixed base.

Career

After a first experience in junior competitions the 1999/2000 Paulo Fernandes held increasingly in England, where he performed live and made circulating in the music scene demo recordings, including with musicians from the environment of James ( band). His piece Bloodshot Star gained some notoriety and was subsequently a part of the series CSI: Miami picked, while the British sports channel Sky Sports used his piece Self Control. 2004 moved to London Slimmy. In the same year he played the opening act of the British tour of the U.S. band Electric Six

His debut album Beat Sound Loverboy 2007 products include by Mark Turner and Saul Davies ( from the band James ), nominations followed, inter alia, at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2008 and also in 2008, the Globo de Ouro in Portugal. The album landed in the Listener Survey of Antena 3 on the third place among the 100 most important Portuguese music albums since 1994. Several singles of the album reached lower courts of the Portuguese charts, especially after using music by Slimmy in the successful television series Morangos com Açúcar.

The since 2007 living in Portugal Paulo Fernandes toured since grown throughout the country with his band. 2010 appeared the second Slimmy album, Be Someone Else.

Style

In the songs themselves influences of electro punk mix with electronic pop music, such as in the style of New Order, and classic rock and pop. In addition to a quieter, melody supported songs especially the rhythm stressed driving and of their rough guitar sound for the sound of the band are characteristic. The performances of the band especially the androgynous appearance and the extroverted nature of the singer attract the attention of viewers.
