The parliamentary elections in the Slovak part of Czechoslovakia in 1990, the Slovak National Council in the elections to the Federal Assembly took place on Friday, 8th and Saturday, 9 June 1990. There were to be awarded 150 seats in parliament.
Electoral system
Was elected under the proportional method and there was a restrictive clause of 3%. The legislature was 4 years, but there were already 1992 elections.
Participating parties
16 political parties and movements competed for election.
Choice
Turnout was extremely high, with 95.39 %. There was almost every voter from his voice.
A total of about 3.6 million voters were called upon on 8 and June 9, 1990 to cast their vote.

The elections ended with a clear victory for the anti-communist VPN ( Slovak counterpart of the Czech Civic Forum (OF) ). The a year ago in fact reigning KSC could only reach about 13 % of the vote.
After the elections, the first government of Vladimir Meciar came on 27 June 1990, with the coalition of VPN, KDH and DS (86 mandates ), replacing the temporary government of Milan Cic. The SNS, the KSC and together went into opposition.
