Action

Martine makes with her father holiday in Alli Champs, the geographical center of France. There she writes her cousin Raoul postcard. In Raoul's school in the small town of Thiers, his teacher Jean -François Richet is attentive to the postcard and include them in their teaching. Background

The shooting took place in Clermont- Ferrand, Bruere - Allichamps, Thiers and Vichy. Director François Truffaut has a cameo appearance in a blue shirt at the beginning of the film. His daughter Eva is featured in the film.

Pocket money was premiered on March 17, 1976 in France. The Germany premiere followed in June 1976 at the Berlinale, where the film was competing for the Golden Bear. In 2003 the film was released on DVD.

Awards

Pocket money was awarded the Kansas City Film Critics Circle Award for Best Foreign Language Film and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
