The Soviet Socialist Republic of Abkhazia (abbreviated Abkhaz SSR, SSR Abkhazia or SSRA; Georgian საბჭოთა სოციალისტური რესპუბლიკა აფხაზეთი, Russian Социалистическая Советская Республика Абхазия ) was a union republic of the Soviet Union on the territory of modern Abkhazia ( an autonomous republic of Georgia ) from 31 March 1921-19 February. , 1931.

History

Officially, the Abkhazian Soviet Socialist Republic was established on 28 March 1921 on a joint session of the Caucasian Bureau of the Russian Communist Party and the Central Committee of the Communist parties of Abkhazia and Georgia. The Abkhazian SSR Soviet Republic was treated in 1922 in the formation of the Transcaucasian Federative on the same level as the Georgian state itself as an equal part of the Federation.

Abkhazia and Georgia had agreed a special relationship in December 1921, a so-called Contract Status (Russian Dogowor ), which was valid until 1931.

From the Abkhazian Soviet Socialist Republic in 1931, the Abkhazian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic within the Transcaucasian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic, from 1936 within the Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic.
