Sofka Popova

Sofka Popova ( Bulgarian Софка Попова, English transcription Sofka Popova, born Казанджиева - Kasandschiewa - Kazandzhieva, . Born August 15, 1953 in Plovdiv ) is a retired Bulgarian sprinter.

At the Track European Indoor Championships 1971 in Sofia, she won with the Bulgarian team bronze in the 4 x 200 - meter relay, and at the European Athletics Championships 1978, she was in the 4 x 100 - meter relay in fourth.

A sixth place with over 60 m at the European Indoor Championships in Vienna followed the next year winning the title over the same distance at the European Indoor Championships in Sindelfingen. At the Olympic Games in 1980, it reached more than 100 m the semi-finals and came up with the Bulgarian quartet in the 4 x 100 - meter relay team to fourth place.

Another gold medal in the 50 m at the European Indoor Championships 1981 in Grenoble followed in 1982 silver over 60 meters at the European Indoor Championships in Milan. In the EM 1982 in Athens, she retired about 100 m from the semi-final and came into the season again on the fourth.

From 1978 to 1982 she was the fifth consecutive Bulgarian indoor champion in the 50 and 60 m.
