Solomiya Krushelnytska

Salome Krushelnytska (Ukrainian Соломія Амвросіївна Крушельницька ) ( born September 23, 1872 in Bilawinzy at Buchach, † November 16, 1952 in Lemberg / Lviv ) was a Ukrainian classical singer (soprano ).

Salome Krushelnytska graduated as External middle school in Ternopil, sang in the choir " Руська бесіда ". She studied singing at the Conservatory of the Galician Musical Society in Lvov at Valery Wysocki.

She debuted on 15 April 1893 in the Lviv Opera in Gaetano Donizetti's " La Favorite ", later she joined in Krakow, in the season 1895/1896 she joined on in Odessa. In 1896 she returned to Italy, and then went on tour to South America. 1898 to 1902 she worked as a prima donna in the Warsaw Opera. In 1902 she came to Paris, where she performed at the Paris Opera.

In 1904 she sang the title role of Puccini's Madame Butterfly in Brescia.

She moved to Italy, married in 1910 the mayor of Viareggio, Marquis Cesare Riccione.

In 1920, as a world-renowned opera singer, interrupted oneself suddenly their opera performances and devoted himself only exclusively solo performances. She sang songs in eight languages. In 1929, she was in Rome last concert.

Riccione Marquis died in 1938. Krushelnytska woman moved in August 1939 to Lviv. In the city connected to the USSR, she was appointed professor at the Lviv Conservatory.

She was buried on the Lychakiv Cemetery next to the grave of Ivan Franko.

For the 100th anniversary of the Lviv Opera was named in 2000 after Salome Krushelnytska.
