Solz (südliche)

The (southern ) Solz is a 21 km long right tributary of the Fulda River in the district of Fulda and Hersfeld -Rotenburg. She is a second-order stream.

The creek is not to be confused with the eponymous creek Solz something Fulda down in Bebra.

Geography

The Solz rises in the northwest of the Kuppenrhön, in the northern part of the municipality of pus in the field of Fulda. Between the mountain ( 406 m. Above sea level. NN ), on which the hamlet Fuersteneck and the castle is Fuersteneck, and the hamlet of Upper Ufhausen heights are several sources in the Witfeld. They unite about 700 meters south of Upper manner Born, a district of pus field. The watercourse flows first in a northerly direction, only to accrue toward the Fulda to Schenklengsfeld the northwest.

The Solz flows initially Upper manner Born, passed the Concordia mill where the watercourse enters the Hersfeld- Rotenburg. The stream then flows through the Schenk Lengsfelder districts under way Born, the nucleus Schenklengsfeld, Lampert field Schenksolz and Malkomes. Next the place happened over the Hermannshof belonging to Friedewald, and further between the Bad Hersfeld districts Sorga and Kathus. Finally, the Solz still flows past the farm Oberrode.

About 1.3 km downstream from the farm Oberrode to the district border between Bad Hersfeld and Hersfeld, opposite the Bad Hersfeld Zellergrund, empties the water running into the Fulda.

The main tributaries are the left inflow ring brook, which rises at Lander Hausen and empties into Schenklengsfeld. and the right inflow Kothe stream which rises in Friedewald and flows below Malkomes.

Infrastructure

Between Sorga and until shortly before Malkomes the federal highway 62 runs through the valley. In this area, the Hermannshof the Federal Highway 4 crosses the Solztal. Further, the valley is accessed by the highway 3171, joining up with pus field.

By 1993, the Hersfelder circular path to Schenklengsfeld led by the Solztal. Today is passed over former railway bridge across the Fulda and the former railway line of Solztalradweg.
