Ludwigsau

Bad Hersfeld is a large village in the north- east of Hesse in Hersfeld -Rotenburg. It is 112 km ² area one of the largest communities in Hesse.

Geography

Geographical location

The municipality is located on the Fulda in the triangle of Bad Hersfeld, Bebra and Rotenburg an der Fulda. The district municipality is located on the edge of Seulingswaldes and extends along the Rohrbaches and its left tributary Enders Brook in the eastern Knüllgebirge into it. The Rohrbach flows at Reilos in the Fulda. The Rohrbachtal is partially called broom reason which relates to the basket makers and broom makers. These professions came here in the last few centuries ago often.

Neighboring communities

Ludwigsau borders in the north on the community Alheim and the town of Rotenburg an der Fulda in the east on the town Bebra and the community Ronshausen, in the southeast on the community Friedewald, to the south by the town of Bad Hersfeld and in the west on the community of New stone (all in Hersfeld -Rotenburg ) and the Schwalm- Eder district municipality belonging Knüllwald.

The municipality consists of the 13 districts Been Hausen, Biedebach, Ersrode, Friedlos, Gerterode, Hainrode, Meckbach, Mecklar, Niederthalhausen, Oberthalhausen, Reilos, Rohrbach and Tann.

History

As part of the municipal reform in Hesse 1971/72 two major communities were in the Fulda valley north of Bad Hersfeld, founded in reason broom and adjacent valleys. After a short time these authorities and other hitherto politically independent villages the greater community Ludwigsau were merged.

The name refers ultimately to Landgraf Ludwig I of Hesse, on the present territory of the municipality of the construction of two named after him Castles - Castle Ludwigseck and Ludwigsaue castle (built in 1416 ) - prompted. From the last-mentioned castle there are no visible traces more, she stood at the mouth of Rohrbaches in the Fulda.

Community education

With effect from 31 December 1971, the municipality Ludwigseck was formed by the voluntary association of the formerly independent communities Been Hausen, Ersrode, Hainrode and Oberthalhausen. At the same time, the community Hersfeld was formed by the voluntary association of the formerly independent communities Biedebach, Friedlos, Gerterode, Mecklar and Tann. In particular Friedlos was interested to escape a forced incorporation into the town of Bad Hersfeld.

Since Niederthalhausen opposed the merger of the municipality Ludwigseck, was the community Ludwigseck dissolved again in the course of municipal reform on 1 August 1972, the related communities and Niederthalhausen and Meckbach and Rohrbach were zwangseingemeindet in the greater community Hersfeld.

The mayor Thomas Baumann (independent) was re-elected on 25 March 2012 with a vote share of 86.6 %. He had again no opposing candidate and begins his fourth term of office.

Coat of arms

Blazon: " The coat of arms is divided diagonally with a blue double wavy line. Right on top of a silver and red castle at the bottom left silver a red mill wheel ".

Meaning: The 13 blades of the mill wheel are available for the districts of the municipality and the castle represents the Ludwigseck Castle represents the double wavy line stands for the Fulda and the Rohrbach.

Ludwigsau maintains partnerships with the French Changé near Le Mans ( since 1997) and the Thuringian Struth- Helmershof (now part of flea Seligenthal ) near Schmalkalden ( since 1990).

Buildings of historical significance are the

  • Castle Ludwigseck, located between termination Hausen, Ersrode and Sterkelshausen, built around 1400, now in the possession of those to and from Gilsa and the

Traffic

Established businesses

In the industrial area in the Fuldaaue in Mecklar - Meckbach is since 2007 the company DHL Exel Supply Chain, with its own building. In Mecklar - Meckbach are four gas pipelines in the vicinity and a larger substation is located in the district. Thus, the power company Iberdrola decided to build here a gas and steam power plant. In 2011 Ibertrola sold the shares in the Danish energy company Dong Energy. The construction work should start originally in 2010, but was delayed so at present indefinitely.
