History

The community Mansbach was in 1232 the first mentioned and is probably dependent since their emergence from the buchischen knighthood of Mansbach. Ransbach followed with its first mention in 1254, a village of the Office Landeck.

The Lords of Mansbach built here on a semi- self employed small rule, where they could exploit relations with neighboring abbeys of Fulda and Hersfeld and the Landgrave of Hesse.

The Mansbach castle was destroyed by Abt Bertho IV of Fulda 1274-1286. After the reconstruction it was in the 14th and 15th centuries, at times, a fief and once a allodium. In 1364 the Mans Bach from the Abbey of Fulda received jurisdiction over the place. In 1662 bought the Lords of Geyso land of the Mans Bach and built here a castle. Until the mediatization 1806, the village was occupied by the abbey of Fulda as landsässig, but there was practically free from three rich manors.

Beginning of the 20th century was the producer Adolf Hupertz (then also owned the castle Rieneck ) owner of 1,700 morning land between Mansbach, Glaam and Oberbreitzbach. He turned it into a manor house, called the Good, or the Gutsbezirk Hohenroda that belonged henceforth to the municipality Oberbreitzbach. Between 1907 and 1909, Hupertz a mansion with parks left in Gutsbezirk build. He called the system lock Hohenroda. As the greater community was founded on February 1, 1971 the name of the farming estate and the castle was transferred to the municipality. Since 1988 there is also the administrative headquarters of the church in the old manor house.
