Kirchheim is a community in Hersfeld-Rotenburg district in northeastern Hesse ( Germany ).

Geographical location

Kirchheim is located in the southern foothills of the crumpled mountains in the valley of the auditorium, which flows at low auditorium in the Fulda; in the town open into the hall in the north the Gossmann Röder water and Wälsebach and to the south the Ibra. The highest mountain of the municipality is the 6.6 kilometer northwest lies along the municipal border with New Stone Eisenberg ( 635.5 m above sea level. NN ).

Kirchheim is bordered to the north by the municipality of New stone, on the east by the town of Bad Hersfeld, in the south on the community of Lower Hall, on the southwest by the municipality of Breitenbach am Herzberg (all in Hersfeld -Rotenburg ) and in the west on the community of Upper Hall ( in the Schwalm -Eder -Kreis).

History

The town of Kirchheim in the Breviarium Lulli, a tithe directory of Hersfeld Monastery by 810, as Kyricheim the first time mentioned.

The rail connection was Kirchheim on 1 May 1906, when the crumpled forest railway was opened. From 1935, the municipality had the highway access, as here was the motorway junction of the motorways A 7, and A 4.

In 1974 started the construction of the " Seeparkes Kirchheim ", between the hamlets Reimboldshausen and Kemmerode. Here the Ibra was dammed to a ten acre lake. Only a year after the district road was built 34 of Willingshain about the Eisenberg after Raboldshausen (part of New stone). After this traffic moderate development of Eisenberg followed in the same year the construction of a mountain hotel, the construction of the " holiday village on the Eisenberg " by the city of Hanover and the construction of the radio tower.

On August 22, 1977, the dam broke in the Ibrastausees " Marine Park Kirchheim " and washed away the railway line near Kirchheim. This was the occasion for the Federal Railroad to shut down the crumpled Forest Railway.

Incorporations

As part of the municipal reform the villages Allendorf, Frielingen, Gershausen, Goßmannsrode, Kemmerode and Reimboldshausen were incorporated with effect from 1 February 1971 in the village of Kirchheim. With effect from December 31, 1971 followed Rotterterode. Gersdorf, Heddersdorf, Reckerode and Willingshain were added by law on 1 August 1972.

Mayor

The Mayor Manfred Koch ( SPD ) was elected on 20 September 1998, a vote share of 51.6 %. He was re-elected on 23 May of 2004 with a vote share of 55.2 %, and on 9 May 2010 with a vote share of 75.9 %. Before Manfred Koch was Karl-Heinz Spangenberg mayor in Kirchheim. He was elected as a candidate of the SPD on March 2, 1997, a vote share of 63.1 %.

Coat of arms

On August 23, 1967, the village of Kirchheim was awarded a coat of arms with the following blazon in the then district Hersfeld: In green under a divided off by fir, golden shield main a lowered diagonally right pair of lanes with green stripe separation. The diagonally right silver double line represents the highway in a stylized form

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

The municipality is located directly on the highway triangles and Kirchheim Had Bach. Thus, the motorways A 4, A 5 and A 7 are in close proximity. By the municipality and the B leads 454 of Kirchhain to Lower auditorium.

Through the municipal area, the high-speed line Hannover -Würzburg leads among other things in Chandler summit tunnel ( 838 m long), on the Wälsebachtalbrücke ( 721 m) and in Kirchheim tunnel (3.82 km). Also, the operating station Kirchheim is in the municipal area.

Apartments

In self-catering accommodation and temporary workers are housed in times of low occupancy. An example of this is the accommodation of seasonal workers of Trenkwalder International in the Marine Park Kirchheim, which were used in 2012 in Amazon in Bad Hersfeld.

2013 Horses tax was introduced to consolidate the budget for the attitude of sport horses in the municipality.
