The first two and the fifth to ninth segments are set with amber-colored hairs. Selbige on the abdomen attachments are dark brown. The brownish black, upper abdomen attachments are about as long or slightly shorter than the ninth and tenth segment together. The distance between them is very low to the base. Here, the rear pair of wings is 36-37 mm long and 10.8 to 11.0 mm wide. In the front wing are seven to eight Antenodaladern, in hind wings there are those five. The Postnodaladern the ratio is reversed. Here it is in the forewing five or six and seven in the rear wing. The wings triangles are divided by a vein and between M1 and M1a are located in the forewing 10-14 cells in hind wing 11 to 14

Dissemination

Habitat and behavior

The holotype was caught in a pine forest. There the kind inhabited clearings and flying high between the tops together with Tramea Carolina. The same habitat also inhabit the types Somatochlora Filosa, Somatochlora provocans and Somatochlora linearis. When issuing preferred the kind of dead branches in two to four and a half meters in height.

Similar Species

Very similar to see the Somatochlora calverti the types Somatochlora Filosa, Somatochlora provocans and Somatochlora ozarkensis. However, the venation of the Costa Subcosta and Antenodaladern S. calverti is yellowish. The bright spots on the tenth segment are more pronounced here. Another good differentiator deliver the abdomen attachments. While those are swollen stronger than in S. Filosa in the middle, they are angled at p provocans and S. ozarkensis at the same place instead of puffy.
