Sõmerpalu Parish

Sõmerpalu ( German: Sommerpahlen ) is a rural municipality in the Estonian county Võru with an area of ​​181.6 km ². It has 1914 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2006).

Sõmerpalu is 10 km from Võru and 65 km from Tartu. In addition to the main town Sõmerpalu (420 inhabitants) includes the rural community of the villages Alakülä, Alapõdra, Haava, Haidaku, Haamaste, Hargi, Heeska, Hormah Hutita, Hänike, Järvere, Kahro, Keema, Kurenurme, Kärgula, Lakovitsa, Leiso, Liiva, Lilli -Anne, Linnamäe, Majala, Mustassaare, Mustja, Mäekülä, Osula, Pritsi, sweater, Punakülä, Rauskapalu, Rummi, Sulbi, Udsali and Varese.

From 1911 to 1939 there was a Russian-German farming community with about 40 families who bore the name Heimtal. The members came from the Ukrainian Volyn oblast and devoted themselves to agriculture. They were resettled in 1939 on the initiative of the German government, together with the majority of the German Balts from Estonia.
