Sonia Santiago

Sonia Santiago ( born 1 November 1966 in Madrid) is a dancer, dance teacher and ballet mistress.

Sonia Santiago -Brückner grew up in Germany and began to dance ballet at the age of five years. She then began her ballet training at the John Cranko School, where he made her degree in 1985. After engagements at the Saarland State Theatre of Saarbrücken and as a soloist at the Lower Saxony State Theatre in Hanover ( choreography by Pierre Dobrievitch, Lothar Hendrik, Jochen Ulrich and Tom Schilling ), she came in 1990 the Stuttgart Ballet. There she was soloist in 1994 and 1997, appointed to Principal Dancer.

Her repertoire included solo roles from different classical and modern choreography, of which many have been specially designed for them. Choreographers who have created roles for Sonia Santiago are: David Bintley, Ivan Cavallari, Douglas Lee, Roberto de Oliveira, Marco Santi, Christian spit, Stephan Thoss and Renato Zanella. She danced in productions by choreographers like Maurice Béjart, Mauro Bigonzetti, Nacho Duato, William Forsythe, Marcia Haydée, Jiří Kylián, Uwe Scholz, Glen Tetley and Hans van Manen. The last great roles of her repertoire were the Queen of the Night in "The Magic Flute " by Maurice Béjart, Queen Isabella, " Edward II " by David Bintley, Tatiana and Catherine in the ballets " Onegin " and " The Taming of the Shrew ", by John Cranko as well as Marguerite in John Neumeier's " Lady of the Camellias ".

Since 2001, Sonia Santiago -Brückner worked as a freelance ballet mistress, dance teacher and dancer. She regularly gives classical training at various ballet schools in and around Stuttgart. She is also active in various projects, such as:

  • 2006-2009: choreographic assistant and trainer at the dance projects "Move the Music" and " Lord of the Rings " by Lior Lev for students / interior from the Stuttgart area.
  • 2007/2008: dancer in " Inkheart " in the role of " Resa " in the theater of the Staatstheater Stuttgart
  • 2009: PULSE project of the Young Opera Stuttgart ( Orphée et Euridice ).
  • 2010: Dancer in the German -Turkish opera " Against the Wall " as alter ego of the " Sibel " Young Opera Stuttgart. The opera was given in 2011 the Fist Prize of the German theater.
  • 2011: artistic director of the youth project for the 50th anniversary of the Stuttgart Ballet " Move it! ".
  • Dance teacher for many more projects with children and young people in all types of schools in the Stuttgart area and beyond.
