Sophia Myles
Sophia Jane Myles ( born March 18, 1980 in London) is a British actress. She became famous through the films, Tristan & Isolde (2006) and Hallam Foe - This Is My Story ( 2007) as well as Beth Turner in Moonlight series (2007-2008).
Life and career
Myles was born as the daughter of Jane and Peter Myles. Her father is a vicar, her mother a publishing company employee. She has Russian ancestors and has a special ear for accents. Myles grew up in Notting Hill and attended the "Fox Primary School ". At age eleven, she moved with her parents to Isleworth, where she attended the " Green School ". Your philosophy studies at Cambridge, she gave up her early twenties, in order to concentrate on her acting career. Currently, she lives in London's Green Park.
Since 1996, Myles appeared in numerous U.S. and British film and television productions. Her first appearance was in a 1996 television remake of The Prince and the Pauper. In 1999, she made her film debut with the film Mansfield Park. In 2001 she became known to a wider audience for the first time with a small role as Victoria Abberline on the side of Johnny Depp in the thriller From Hell. In 2002 and 2003 she appeared in music videos by Bush and Ronan Keating. In 2003, she starred in Underworld next to Kate Beckinsale as Erika. In the sequel, Underworld: Evolution ( 2006), she appeared in flashbacks again in this role. In 2004, she played the lead role in the thriller in the dark alone. In the same year, she appeared as Lady Penelope in Thunderbirds.
Her first major starring role in a theatrical production played Myles as Isolde in 2006 on the side of James Franco in Tristan & Isolde, the film based on the legend. In the same year she played a guest role Madame de Pompadour in an episode of Doctor Who. She also starred as Lucy Westenra in the TV movie Dracula. In 2007, she was next to Jamie Bell in the drama Hallam Foe - to see This Is My Story. For her performance Myles was awarded a Scottish BAFTA Award for Best Actress and was nominated in the same category for a British Independent Film Award. In 2008, she played the Freya in the thriller Outlander with James Caviezel.
In 2007, she landed the role of Beth Turner on the CBS series Moonlight. The series was awarded the 2007 People's Choice Award for Best New Drama Series. 2008 Moonlight was discontinued after one season despite Fanprotesten. In 2010 she played, with the beginning of the ninth season, the role of Beth Bailey in the British television series in the sights of MI5.
