Sophie of Pomerania
Princess Sophia of Pomerania ( * 1498 in Stettin, † May 13 1568 in Schleswig ) was by marriage Queen of Denmark and Norway, as well as Duchess of Schleswig -Holstein - Gottorp.
Life
Sophia was born as the eldest daughter of Prince Bogusław X. the Great of Pomerania (1454-1523) and Princess Anne (1476-1503), daughter of the Polish king Casimir IV.
On October 9, 1518 Sophia married in Schleswig widowed Danish King Frederick I ( 1471-1533 ), fourth son of King Christian I of Denmark and Dorothea of Brandenburg. Sophia was crowned on August 13, 1525 in Copenhagen, the Danish queen. Sophia died in 1568 and was buried in the cathedral of Schleswig. The marriage produced six children:
