Sophie of Pomerania

Princess Sophia of Pomerania ( * 1498 in Stettin, † May 13 1568 in Schleswig ) was by marriage Queen of Denmark and Norway, as well as Duchess of Schleswig -Holstein - Gottorp.

Life

Sophia was born as the eldest daughter of Prince Bogusław X. the Great of Pomerania (1454-1523) and Princess Anne (1476-1503), daughter of the Polish king Casimir IV.

On October 9, 1518 Sophia married in Schleswig widowed Danish King Frederick I ( 1471-1533 ), fourth son of King Christian I of Denmark and Dorothea of ​​Brandenburg. Sophia was crowned on August 13, 1525 in Copenhagen, the Danish queen. Sophia died in 1568 and was buried in the cathedral of Schleswig. The marriage produced six children:
