Sorrento Peninsula

Geographical location

The Sorrento Peninsula (also Sorrento Peninsula, Italian penisola sorrentina ) is a peninsula on the Mediterranean Sea in Italy. It is named after its largest capital, Sorrento, named and located between the Gulf of Naples and the Gulf of Salerno. West of the peninsula in the Tyrrhenian Sea is the island of Capri.

Economy

Traditionally, the peninsula is used for agriculture; are grown among other lemons, oranges, grapes and olives.

Tourism is the main source of income of the peninsula. Because of the varied landscape of mountains, valleys and cliffs, it is very popular with walkers. Because of the steep coast beaches are hard to find.

Places

For peninsula includes the villages of Castellammare di Stabia ( partial), Vico Equense, Meta, Piano di Sorrento, Sorrento, Sorrento and Massa Lubrense. Agerola is sometimes counted in the Sorrento Peninsula, but sometimes also considered as part of the Amalfi Coast.
