Sort sol

The term Black Sun, Danish Sort sol refers to a natural phenomenon in the southwest of the Danish peninsula Jutland (Region Syddanmark ) on the territory of today's large communities Tønder and Esbjerg and in Germany belonging to the district of North Friesland.

The event is observed in spring and autumn, when thousands of migratory birds / migratory birds (particularly starlings ) from the breeding areas in Scandinavia and the Baltic area on their way from or to their southern wintering sites on the marshland near the towns of Tønder, Ribe, Niebüll or or at the island of Romo looking towards sunset a picnic area, at sunrise for onward journey to ascend into the air to form themselves into a swarm or threat by predators (eg foxes or birds of prey ) to escape or defense rise in the air.
