Soucoucoutane

Soucoucoutane (also: Soukoukoutane ) is a rural municipality in the Department Dogondoutchi in Niger.

Geography

Soucoucoutane located in the southern Sahel. The neighboring municipalities are Kourfeye Centre in the northwest, Dogonkiria in the northeast, Matankari the southeast, Dogondoutchi in the south and Loga in the southwest. The municipality is divided into 14 administrative villages, 68 traditional villages, hamlets and seven two camps. The main town of the country church is the administrative village Soucoucoutane (also: Soukoukoutan ).

History

The rural community Soucoucoutane went as an administrative unit 2002 through the course of a nationwide administrative reform from the northwestern part of the canton Dogondoutchi.

Population

At the 2001 census Soucoucoutane had 26,888 inhabitants. For the year 2010 36.009 inhabitants was calculated.

Economy and infrastructure

The community is located at the junction of the zone of rain -fed agriculture of the South to the North zone of the Agropastoralismus. 97 % of the population of Soucoucoutane work in agriculture. The water table is at a depth of 50 to 400 meters, which makes access to drinking water.
