Souleymanou Hamidou

Souleymanou Hamidou ( born November 22, 1973 in Mokolo ) is a former Cameroonian football goalkeeper. Most recently, he played for Kayserispor.

Club career

Hamidou began his career at Coton Sport Garoua.

In 2000 he moved to Turkey and signed the then Erstligaaufsteiger Çaykur Rizespor, with whom he went straight to number nine. The association could qualify for the Intertoto Cup, however, followed the following year the descent. The keeper did one more season and increased with the club once again in the top flight on.

2003 he moved to Denizlispor. After the first two seasons, the club's fifth and sixth ranked, he fought the next two years against relegation and could never compete at European level with Denizlispor. After five years in Denizli Hamidou moved in 2008 to Kayserispor. In his first season in Cappadocia, he was at first choice goalkeeper and was able to record his first bets on the European stage. In the UEFA Cup Hamidou came against the French representatives Paris St. Germain two appearances in the first round. In the first leg the team lost at home 1:2 and retired after a goalless second leg of the competition. At the end of the season in the Turkcell Süper Lig Kayserispor was seventh.

National

Hamidou has played 24 games for the national team of Cameroon. He was nominated for several international tournaments. In 2000 he was in the squad for the African Nations Cup in Ghana and Nigeria, but came as a substitute goalkeeper to no use. Cameroon won the tournament.

In 2006 he was employed at the African Cup in Egypt as a goalkeeper. In the group matches against Angola and Togo played by Hamidou. In addition, he was the Viertelfinalaus against the Ivory Coast to use and transformed the lost penalty shoot the penalty for 11:10, but he could not a single penalty parry and after Samuel Eto'o missed, resigned from the Cameroonian.

Both at the African Cup 2008 in Ghana and 2010 in Angola, he was substitute goalkeeper Carlos Kameni of and came to no use. He was also nominated for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and there used in all group matches of his team. After three defeats against Japan, Denmark and the Netherlands Cameroon resigned as Group Last.
